Uni-Core combines both back-to-back drivers into a single motor system. I’ve been wanting the KEF Q550 series 5.1 setup for several years now, and having finally bought the system of my dreams, I am blown away by how good it sounds, and how good it looks. Setup consists of Q550 floorstanding, Q650c centre, Q350 Rear surround and 12b Kube subwoofer. Both music and films sound on another level to anything I’ve heard before, with crystal clear audio quality. If you are looking for a 5.1 system for your home cinema, this is the setup for you.I also experienced the best level of customer service I’ve ever received. One corner of one of the Q550s was slightly damaged upon arrival, I contacted KEF and had an immediate response (which was after normal business hours), the team there handled everything so swiftly and once the return had been received, a replacement was despatched the same day, for next day delivery, it arrived by 10am. It’s so good to know that KEF value the customer experience so much, and understand that a high-end system like this needs to be absolutely pristine, which it is. I am one very happy customer, I can highly recommend KEF. Thank you! 🙂

in my opinion KEF always produced good value for money speakershaven,t quite ran them long enough to be honest but as usual they are impressive soundingwork well in a smaller room not to small though if you have the room purchase the larger model

Brilliant pair of speakers but bed them in and warm them up on low volume before turning them up loud! Very warm sound but detailed as well, strap them to a good quality streaming amp and you’re sorted! Would have been nice to get the grilles with them but not a problem.

If you building budget hi fi system, you should strongly consider these speakers. Connected to Cambridge CXA81 amplifier. It will require 300+ hours before these speakers will reach its sound capability so it’s to early to say more about them. For now I’ve support lower tones with Cambridge subwoofer minx x301. And have to admit it is a gigantic improvement for my home system.

after attatching the 4 spikes on each speaker which took an hour.the sound is stunning i like a variety of music jazz,eno bowie,reggae etc etc.great stereo separation,enuff sound to fill my small/medium room.not too much bass,great treble+ mid.the sound will evolve over time. very pleased with purchase.quick delivery by sevenoaks sound and vision

I bought these in May, so I have given them a full 6 months to bed in before reviewing, hence the title.Firstly, while they’re never going to be for “Drum ‘n’ Bass” fans (spare me), the bass driver & passive radiator combo loosens up well enough with time – note the 6 months comment above. Bear this in mind before expressing your disappointment over the low end of these things. And they can stand to be a bit closer to the wall than normal, which helps too.But then there is the absolute clarity from the co-axial array – crisp, defined, dispersive, and many other superlatives. And I do believe that these are the first set of speakers I’ve owned from which I’ve been able to shut my eyes and hear a stereo image, precise instrument placement and all that. I half believed it to be a myth before these speakers.I do believe that finally I am content with a pair of speakers for the broad genre of music I listen to – and it’s been a long time coming.
