Mr AS PatersonMr AS Paterson –
I purchased the TicWatch Pro 3 off the back of already owning the TicWatch Pro 2020, which is a superb device. As soon as the TicWatch Pro 3 came out, I knew I wanted one and I’m glad I bought it.PackagingOutwardly, the packaging of the watch was very similar to the Pro 2020 version, a high-quality box containing the watch, instructions and charger, all packaged with care to ensure a flawless product on delivery.Watch DesignThis is a beautiful and surprisingly light smartwatch. I was expecting the design and feel to be very similar to the Pro 2020, but it is MUCH lighter and more comfortable. The materials of the watch feel durable and are attractive. The black bezel has a nice reflective quality, and numbers etched on it in 5-minute intervals. The bezel does not rotate, but this is expected. The side buttons both feel robust and are unobtrusive even when bending the wrist (if you wear it on your left wrist like I do, some watch buttons can get pressed when bending the wrist)The watch is thinner than the Pro 2020 model by around 2-3mm, and weighs 17g less (yes, I weighed them, see pics!)StrapThe supplied strap is a 22mm quick-release band, which appears to be made from silicone, but has an attractive red stitch pattern which gives the impression of a leather strap. The benefit of it being silicone is all down to comfort, and this strap is incredibly smooth and comfortable.DisplayThis is where the Ticwatch really shines. Using the clever 1.4” dual display, the majority of the time the watch will be using the low-power always-on LCD screen. This screen shows the essential information like Time, Date, Step count, and battery. By either clicking a button, or tilting your wrist, this activates the AMOLED display which then allows the full smart watch functionality, with responsive touch screen and a host of apps at your disposal. The LCD display is great for viewing in light areas, and is perfectly readable in direct sunlight, which a lot of smart watches cannot do. The LCD also seems to include a backlight mode, which the previous model did not, this makes it easier to read the LCD in darker areas. The full AMOLED display is bright and vibrant with excellent viewing angles, and dark blacks.AppsMost of the apps are fairly standard from a Google Watch OS standpoint. All the regulars are there like Google Fit, Phone, Memo, Calc, Alarm, Stopwatch/Timer, Weather etc. With the benefit of access to the Google Play store to download thousands of other apps.My most used apps such as Google Keep, Strava, Spotify all worked flawlessly.Another big plus is Google Pay, which is fully supported on this watch. I programmed the bottom hardware button to be a single press to Google Pay (though by default the double click also does this), and I have made numerous purchases using it, as it is SO convenient. In case you’re worried about security, if using Google Pay you must set up a PIN or pattern, which activates every time you put on the watch. Therefore, if the watch was taken from you, Google Pay would not function without it.I was interested in trying out the Tic built in apps, and was pleasantly surprised by them:• I have TicSleep monitoring my sleep, as the watch is comfortable enough to wear to bed (something the Pro 2020 model was not IMO).• I’ve used TicZen and TicBreath to de-stress which is something I was already doing using a mindfulness app on my phone, but now integrated into the watch is convenient and easy to use.• TicHearing has been useful to show just how loud my kids are shouting when playing Fortnite and Rocket League – over 100dB at times!• TicPulse is used to monitor my heart rate, which I have set to do 24/7 monitoring. Accuracy seems consistent with the Pro 2020.• TicOxygen measures blood oxygen levels. I also have this running 24/7.• TicExercise has all the modes you would expect from an exercise tracking app – Run, Walk, Treadmill, Cycling, Freestyle, and many more including Swimming due to the IP68 water resistant rating. It can also upload to Strava, which is my exercise hub of choice.• All of this gets pulled into the TicHealth app which gives a nice overview of all the above functions.TouchScreen and HardwareThe screen is responsive to touch, easily as responsive as the Pro 2020 and perhaps feels smoother to touch, though this could just be due to the snapper hardware. One of the main selling points of this watch is that it uses the brand-new Qualcomm Snapdragon 4100 platform, which is a powerful applications processor and ultra-low power co-processor. This should have significant improvements in terms of battery life, and performance.Battery LifeI was pleased to see that the battery life of this new model was as good as if not better than the previous one, even when I was using the watch with so many features running, such as the 24/7hr and blood oxygen, and also wearing it to monitor sleep. From first charge, I was able to eek out 2.5 days, including 2 nights. I haven’t used it in essential mode, which shuts down all smart performance, limits you to the LCD screen and only monitors steps, but this mode should allow up to 45 days!UIThe UI on this feels buttery smooth, with no lag that I can detect. All touches are recognised, and no delays between presses and apps opening.ChargingGone is the older magnetic charging base, and this includes a much more welcome magnetic charging clip. It clicks into place effortlessly, and allows the watch to sit at a slight angle, which would be nice for a bedside if you’re not wearing it to bed along with TicSleep :-pConclusionSo in conclusion, this is a superb and very comfortable smartwatch that I can see myself wearing for years to come!

I’m a confirmed Ticwatch and Wear OS fan. I already have a Ticwatch Pro LTE and had to order a new Ticwatch 3 GPS on the day it was released – so I watched the Mobvoi countdown to launch with interest! After charging for a couple of hours I tried on my new watch, it fits really well on my wrist and is certainly extremely light and super comfortable. As an aside, the new charging cable has a lovely rubberised feel and finish, it locks straight onto the watch magnetically and is not going to drop off in a hurry – I like the design, it’s really well thought out.The first differences I noticed over my Ticwatch Pro LTE are the size, weight and general comfort. I have always been really happy with the LTE in terms of comfort but the Pro 3 just looks and feels that little bit nicer on my wrist. It is a large watch but that is exactly the style I prefer and of course it provides a decent amount of screen real-estate to play with. Oh and I love the new strap too, very comfortable and it looks great!I realised that the extra straps I bought previously to use with my Ticwatch Pro LTE also fit the new Pro 3 so if I fancy a leather strap or a sports silicone look to change the style a little it only takes seconds to swap over!In terms of setup, this is straightforward and after having undertaken this process using the WearOS companion App on my trusty Samsung Note it didn’t take too long at all to get going.I happily spent some time playing with the settings between the phone App and on screen on the watch itself to get things to my normal day to day operating point.I have played with a few of the standard watch faces and of course loaded some new ones too, and have settled on the Age Of Blood face for now, though I do tend to change faces regularly just to mix it up a little.Given the current world situation I tend to use contactless payment for most things and rather than use my phone or credit card it is great to use my Ticwatch to pay. A quick double press on the lower of the two buttons and GooglePay is ready to use. I have had a number of admiring comments from people in shops when they see me pay using my watch and ask what it is.In terms of performance this watch is very responsive, I hadn’t really noticed any performance issues with my Pro LTE but the new Pro 3 has definitely moved things up to another level – faster is always better in my book!Battery life is superb, I am used to charging a smart watch every day but now I can easily go on for 3 days (possibly more) based on my normal usage profile – and I do have everything turned on – all sensors, always on screen, daily fitness tracking at the gym etc.And that’s another thing, I haven’t used sleep tracking in the past (mainly because I had to charge my smart watches every day), but now with the extended battery life I can track and monitor my sleep patterns and whilst this might not be critical for everyone (including myself), it is interesting to review and monitor over time.TicHearing is a function that I didn’t think I would use but in fact I do spend time in computer comms rooms and whilst I realised they are quite noisy, I hadn’t realised quite how noisy until I monitored using this App on my watch – 90dB – time for earplugs I think!TicZen is another app I have played with, apparently I am ‘Relaxed’ and mainly exhibit low and medium stress – it will be interesting to see how this changes when work commitments ramp up…SpO2 is interesting to monitor – especially as I have recently been given inhalers by my GP to help with breathlessness when exercising (exercise induced asthma) – watching my oxygen levels I see that I am in the normal range for oxygen saturation all of the time at the moment.I haven’t had a chance to try my new watch in the swimming pool yet so I can’t comment on swim tracking, if I get a chance to try this function I will pop back and update my review. The dual display technology is great, and if I am going to go away and not have decent charging facilities (I am thinking family camping holidays etc) then switching to Essential Mode should give me potentially weeks of use even with step counting and some of the multitude of sensors in play, oh and the new backlight function in essential mode makes it all the more readable in very light (or very dark!) environments. That said I love the AMOLED screen and tend to use my watch in always on mode to show off my watch face of choice to the world!Do I love my new watch? Yes!Would I buy it again? Yes!Should you buy one? Definitely!

The media could not be loaded. I first found Mobovi, beginning of 2018, when I purchased a then Ticwatch 2. This was a great all-rounder and although it wasn’t Wear OS, it was still great, I later upgraded to the Ticwatch Pro, a great step forward. Also that run Wear OS, and featured Google Pay, and finally we move to the latest and greatest Ticwatch Pro 3 GPS, I Like some reminders for me of the old Ticwatch 2 days, list the application list is icons side by side instead of the wheel of icons around the edge of the screen, I feel the screen seems much larger ,but the watch is much lighter, and somehow less intrusive. (and the voice recorder app that existed on the ticwatch 2 is back! Yeah 😊)That said this will mainly be a comparison to the Ticwatch Pro 1, that in its day was phenomenal,This Pro 3 GPS has 1GB of RAM (compared to 512MB)Has the latest Qualcomm 4100 chipset, (compared to 2100)Had 8GB Memory (compared to 4GB)The Dual screen technology on these devices is great, I like the pro 3 GPS as this now also has a back light, which was sorely missing on the earlier versions. For those who don’t know what this offers, it allows two screens to be layered on top of each other. the LCD screen behind the AMOLED screen, so when the AMOLED screen is off, the basics of time, heart rate, battery activity and such are still shown. They moved the screen around a bit, but basically, it’s the same, but you get a second’s counter too now. With this screen technology it allows for the watch to achieve up to 45 days in just the simple (essential mode) but even with everything turned on, I can still achieve around 3 to 4 days, with the right clock face, and gestures set correctly, I’d generally charge every other day.If wearing for 24 hours a day, if your using for TicSleep, then I’d Generally charge in the morning whilst I’m in the shower.Mobvoi have a large selection of apps, I personally prefer them, as I’ve watched some of them evolve over the various different watches I’ve owned.Starting with Ticsleep.Setup Ticsleep like any other app on your watch, give it some basic information about when to expect you to sleep and it will track sleep patterns and sleep stages, for example, Awake, REM, Light Sleep and then suggest how good this sleep was. it will also track your heart rate over the night with full graphs during the night, I found it interesting to see the kind of sleep I was having, you can also if you want setup the sleep alarm and smart wake up to get you up when it’s the right time for you, based on the type of sleep your having.Ticzen,I like the idea of this app in a modern world, (especially currently were everyone is stressed for obvious reasons in 2020!) it’s a very interesting way to see all these little points on the graph for the day, and try to correlate them to things that have happened during the day, let’s see how this progresses but great ideas, you can set this to monitor every 30 minutes and build a picture of your day, you can then see all this data in the companion app on your mobile.TicPluse (HR Monitoring,)The Tic Pro 3 GPS has a better heart rate monitoring system, I again, loved the idea of knowing how my body is working, so when I go out walking or do exercises I like to watch what’s happening. Also as mentioned it will track your heart rate all day and all night if you wish, this will allow you to build up graphic data to look back at, this moves nicely on too,TicHealth,This app will monitor your Steps, track exercise, active hours, and calories burned, Heart rates, O2 saturation levels, and goals your striving to achieve, everything in one place, similar to the companion app, You can set the app to nag you, so you keep moving, I find it helpful as being sat at a desk all day, you can forget to move sometimes.TicExcerise,TicExercise has moved on lots over the years too,It can track outdoor runs with GPS and Heart rate monitoring, Walking with the same information, Outdoor Cycling with GPS heart rate, altimeter, in door cycling with Heart rate, Real Pool swim (I’ve never tried this though as I don’t want to damage the watch 😊 ), others include Rowing Elliptical and Yoga. Some will simply track your heart rate and activity time during indoor events, but the data is still useful to see, and it keeps all the information in one place, you can also enable TicMotion, which will attempt to identify when you are doing exercise, automatically instead of you telling the watch the type of activity you’re doing.TicOxygen,As mentioned earlier this app monitors your oxygen saturation levels and records them, you can set the system to monitor this every hour for you if you wish, for those who don’t know the measurement is a number between 0 and 100, ideally it should be as close to 100 as possible, mine generally sits around 99.TicBreath,Is essentially breathing exercises to, the watch vibrates starting fast then slows, if you read the instructions on screen to breath in, then exhale, follow this for the length of the exercise and at the end it’ll Give you your heart rate.Good breathing can really make a difference to your heart rate, when I cycle if my breathing is out my heart rate is 20-30 beats harder than It needs to be, so it pays off to do breathing exercises.TicHearing,This app give you guidance on what noise is acceptable, and has a visual traffic light system a long with a DB warning numbers, the idea being if we reduce the amount of background noise in our life’s it will help our mental wellbeing, you can leave the app running to get ideas of your surroundings..moving on to the Companion app on the Phone,This has a great way to show you all the information for that day, as an overview. It works in conjunction with the Wear OS app that you must also setup, when you First configure the Watch. Not a Tic App, but Google Pay, is a very useful app to setup, you’ll also have to have a lock mechanism setup on your watch, which is clever, and only kicks in when you remove your watch from your wrist, for example a great little feature to stop the missus buying a sneaky coffee with your watch when she nips out 😊Watch face wise I use Watch Maker with the watch, which works well, remember I said earlier if you stick with inbuilt watch faces and tweak the Gestures on the watch you can get extra battery life from the watch in smart mode, its about finding what’s best for you. This model is much faster than the previous versions, very speedy OTB, and I’d also recommend going to the forums and registering and asking questions, they are friendly support people, and although I’ve only ever really used support for my old Ticwatch 2, they did respond with useful and helpful advice.Probably one of the most important things which I’ve left until last is that the watch is much lighter than the previous versions. it also seems to be closer to your wrist, and when sleeping with it on, its less noticeable, I mean you get used to these things regardless but the first night was like I’d forgot to put it on, in comparison, the straps are good quality OTB starter straps, I tend to buy a few different straps for different occasions, this can make the watch sporty or formal in this way.The charging connector is smaller than the disc version previously used but works just the same.I hope you found my review useful, and if it helps one person make an informed decision then great.

The media could not be loaded. This is the first wear OS watch I’ve tried that doesn’t lag or stutter. It’s really fast and fluid. When I’ve tried wear OS in the past it’s always stopped working or took ages to do certain things like open Google assistant but that hasn’t happened on this watch. I don’t know if it’s the new Snapdragon 4100 or the 1Gb RAM (as other wear OS watches I’ve tried have only had 512Mb RAM) but it’s the best wear OS watch I’ve tried.Just prior to getting this watch I’ve been wearing the Samsung galaxy active watch 2. My biggest gripe with the watch active 2 was the battery life. I was lucky to get 2 days out of the battery. The battery on the TicWatch Pro 3 is a lot better. In full smart mode with all the features turned on I’m getting 3 days out of it. This is probably partly down to the dual screens. The LCD screen is like a lock screen. I had the original TicWatch Pro which had this as well which was great but I found that when it was dark I couldn’t see the LCD screen. Mobvoi have added a back light that lights the LCD screen when you lift the watch up to see the time. It’s a minor change but it makes a huge difference. Something else I like about the dual screen is that you can change the length of time before the LCD screen kicks back in. The normal timeout is 5 seconds but you can change this up to 15 seconds. The watch is really comfortable to wear. The 22mm band is silicone but looks like leather. It’s really stretchy and I don’t really feel the watch while wearing it. I like the look of the watch as well. It has a more classic look which suits me as I work in an office so it looks a bit more professional. It’s got a big AMOLED screen which is great for scrolling and viewing.Mobvoi have pre-installed a series of apps which are called TicZen, TicSleep, TicExercise, TicBreathe etc. I had fun playing around with these apps. The TicBreathe has a 1 minute breathing setting. I tried it out and you are concentrating on the instructions so much it actually does help you slow down and relax. I’ll be using this more often. There’s also a voicememo app built into the watch which I’ve found quite useful. I’ve got a terrible memory so if I’ve just spoken to someone and don’t have a pen and paper handy or my phone I can use the voicememo app to record something before I forget. The only thing I couldn’t get working was the voice command for the Google Assistant. I contacted Mobvoi and they said that this is a Google issue and there should be an update by the end of the year. You can still use the Google Assistant by long pressing the top button or swiping right and clicking the microphone. But apart from all that, one of the best things I love about this watch is it supports Google Pay! Over the last few years I’ve had Garmin’s with Garmin pay and Samsung’s with Samsung pay but neither of these support any of the banks I bank with. Google Pay is the only one which supports my banks. I have my debit card and one of my credit cards registered on my watch. It’s great. So easy to use and switch between the cards.I’ve wore both the TicWatch Pro 3 and my Samsung galaxy watch active 2 for the last few days and the TicWatch Pro 3 is the one that I have been going to to check the time, check a message, use Google Pay etc. Definitely recommend this watch to anyone looking for a smartwatch alternative to the Apple or Samsung watches with a cheaper price tag to boot!

I bought the new TicWatch Pro 3 as an upgrade from my TicWatch Pro 4G and so far I’ve been very impressed by the improvements they’ve made! The battery life is much better than before, I’ve got all sensors activated 24/7 for TicPulse, TicZen, TicHearing, and the others and I still haven’t needed to charge it since receiving the watch 2 days ago, even when starting at 85% charge… upgrading the battery size and upgrading to the new Snapdragon 4100 was a really good idea!I’ve been using the watch with the pre-installed Mobvoi apps such as TicHealth and TicPulse, as well as the new ones: TicSleep, TicZen, TicOxygen, and TicHearing. All of the apps have been working perfectly and reporting the stats accurately. The TicSleep app also has the option to set non-tracking time to save battery, and that’s good.TicZen has been a really good addition to the apps, it tracks your stress level based on the statistics it collects and you can see how stressed out you are, you can do a check manually or have it automatically check every 30 minutes throughout the day. I’m loving this app and it is definitely helping me to keep more calm and realise which parts of my life are stressing me out the most. The new TicHearing app is also very useful, it listens to the audio volume around you and shows you how loud your surroundings are and how healthy each level of audio is. You can use this along with the TicZen information and keep yourself calm and reduce stress.I’ve also had all the data that Google Fit supports sync through from my watch to the Google Fit apps too, I just set up the connection in the Mobvoi app and it starts to sync the information automatically so you have it in both places, I’m very happy with that being so easy to set up, although I personally prefer using the TicWatch apps. They’ve also made some really good improvements to the watch strap design and the screen too; the new Pro 3 has an improved dual screen that shows more statistics on the battery saving screen as well as being almost instant when responding to touches and scrolls while using it and quickly waking up from sleep, it’s perfect for the battery life! The new watch strap on the Pro 3 is more comfortable than the version that came with my previous watch and makes the whole watch look more professional and less of a sports watch. I can use this in the gym and in the office and it visually fits in both scenarios without any issues! Finally the new selection of watch faces is fantastic! They’ve added loads more watch faces for the Pro 3, all with a different set of widgets showing the different stats that the apps are checking such as Pulse, Stress, and Steps. Their mobile app now shows a full list of watch faces that you can download and use, as well as the ones that are already on your watch.Overall this watch is by far the best TicWatch that they’ve made; the battery life is really good, the apps are working perfectly, and the customisation has improved a lot since my first TicWatch.I definitely recommend that you buy this watch!

The media could not be loaded. I have been using a TicWatch since the early days when they were a kickstarter back in 2018. I am making the upgrade from the TicWatch pro 4G/LTE to the TicWatch Pro 3 GPS that came out just a few weeks ago.Form Factor:When you look at both watches separately from a distance the Pro 3 GPS looks smaller, thinner and more casual professional, the Pro 4G/LTE looks more beefy, sporty and weighty. But when it comes down to it, the Pro 3 GPS is actually a little wider and it is barely thinner if at all.I would argue the biggest difference in the watches is the weight, when you look at the numbers you might say “as if I will feel that minute difference” but I can honestly say you do! At the time of writing, I have been wearing both watches at the same time (one on each wrist) and the Pro 3 GPS is lighter and more comfy. I think the strap also helps, it’s flexible and more comfy to wear. One part of the watch I did not expect to really like is the lower bezels which makes it much easier to press buttons and options closer to the edge of the screen. A very welcome improvement. So, if you are going for the form factor there is little difference, apart from the Pro 3 GPS easier-to-press edge icons, having a slightly more business casual look (the numbers on the rim are not as striking) and a slightly less sporty/bulky look. The screen:I always thought the Pro 4G/LTE had an awesome screen but I am blown away by the crisp high contrast bright OLED of the Pro 3 GPS. I am also sure that having OLED helps increase battery life due to OLED screens not powering the parts of the screen that are black. Another advantage to the OLED screen is that the watch face contracts are more life like. So another big win for the Pro 3 GPS. My only fear here is OLEDs one big flaw; burn in. Particularly with a mainly static watchface you may start to see burn in, however turning off the ‘always on’ display and choosing dynamic watchfaces will likely help to avoid this.Battery life:Ok so here is where the TicWatch Pro 3 GPS stands out from all the other Wear OS watches. I am impressed. Very impressed. I thought the 4G/LTE watch battery life was great and I thought, “how much better can it be”. I mean as long as it lasts 12 hours you can charge it at night and it’s not an issue. Well I have been PUSHING this Pro 3 GPS to discharge, and the whole 48 hours I have owned the watch I have only charged it once (when I first got it). As I look down at it right now it’s on 10% still.Just for comparison here is what I did on both watches 4G/LTE and Pro 3 GPS:Both charged at the same time and one on each arm:- Took both watches off charge at 8:30am- Entered each app once (to compare speed of use)- Had them on the whole day at work with HR tracking, yes I did get strange looks at work.- During my work day I used my watch as a 2 step authenticator so took turns to use both.- Went for an evening run and tracked on both TicFit and Google Fit apps, on both watches.- This is when the 4G/LTE watch died, at around 7pm, at which point the Pro 3 GPS was at… wait for it….75%!!- I wore the Pro 3 GPS watch (so didn’t charge it) and tracked my night’s sleep. This also enables HR tracking while sleep monitoring is on.- The next day I went on to download all my watch apps and install them, yes Google Music is no longer available.- Added yet more watch faces to try out- Checked my oxygen, pulse and stress levels- Set up Google PayNow, here I am 2 days after getting the watch and not holding back on using the device to its fullest and at 10pm I still have 10% battery life.If used with “normal” usage, i.e. not installing a load of apps, faces, and extra tracking, then I reckon it would easily last yet another day. If you disable 24 hours pulse, stress, noise and oxygen levels it would probably last even longer still.I am pretty confident this is down to two things: the new Qualcomm® Snapdragon Wear™ 4100 processor and I am so glad they moved to it because it shows! And Bluetooth 5 which has its lower battery consumption advantages.General usage:One of the first things I noticed is the responsiveness, using the UI feels as smooth as slicing butter with a hot knife. One annoyance I had with the 4G/LTE was how long it would take to bring up Google Pay in a shop, or the time it took to change cards. With Pro 3 GPS this only takes half the time. The other thing I also noticed were the well thought out interface improvements. The UI explains the impact and consequences of changing any features. For example, turning on the ‘always on’ screen, it will inform you that this will affect battery life. Turning on the wifi will not only tell you that it will affect battery life but it also explains that Wifi is not needed with Bluetooth 5 as bluetooth has a lower battery consumption and the watch will intelligently switch on wifi if bluetooth is out of range. I really liked this, explaining these things to the user means as you configure your watch you can make informed decisions. How you use your watch and what settings you end up with are dependent on how you interact with it and your priorities. There will be a month or so of tweaking settings to your liking to get the perfect balance of battery life and functionality, which leads me to my final section on integration.Integrations:Let me start with the Mobvoi app, I am going to be brutally honest, I am not a fan of it at all.It has never been able to show me battery life on the watch it just shows ‘–%’. It sporadically connects to the watch, the menu system is not intuitive, and it shows things like Routine which does not work with connected devices so just adds further confusion. Clicking the help button on my device in the app takes me to an embedded Chinese website. Just to add to the annoyance, all the other menu items are just a hosting spot for Mobvoi advertising. I have already bought my device Mobvoi…The health data visualisation is not very helpful; it’s a list of numbers on a page, no ability to show graphs of changes, all time highs or badges for most steps in a day etc and there is no assistance in providing meaning to the number it is showing. So I don’t really want to use the app, which is fine, let’s use a different app like Google Fit, and how awesome would it be to get my sleep, oxygen, steps and tracked runs in Google Fit! Nope. Sorry. Only steps are synced. Even though I know Google has the API and integrations for sleep and oxygen as I sync it with my Withings Go. My next thought was ok lets see if it syncs with Nokia’s Health Mate (where I keep my blood pressure and weight) but also a big nope. It only has step data integration into Runkeeper, Strava and Google Fit and who knows what data actually syncs with the other health services. The only way around this would be to ensure you use the Wear OS app for the health service on the watch itself and that is if the Wear OS app supports tracking for it (Google Fit does not have sleep or oxigen tracking on Wear OS).TLDR; The Pro 3 GPS is a great watch with excellent battery life, a beautiful aesthetic compared to its predecessors, and a mountain of new features. Most of these pros are down to the new Qualcomm® Snapdragon Wear™ 4100 processor. Just a shame about the app and integration. Still, best TicWatch yet!

I have it paired with a Samsung Galaxy Note 9 smartphone.I have bought this watch as an upgrade from the 2018 Ticwatch Pro 1. A watch I loved, but which suffered from lagginess. I am sticking with Mobvoi because only they have the duel screen tech. For those who don’t know, Mobvoi’s special party trick is a ye-olde style black and white LCD panel OVER a full hi-res AMOLED colour display. This allows the best of both worlds – a always-on display when using it as just a basic watch, but the full experience when using it for anything “smart” such as GPS navigation or message handling. This hugely increases battery life, and gets rid of the annoying delay while the screen comes on. It also allows you to subtly check the time without it being obvious to those you are with!First impressions on opening the box are good – the watch is well presented and safely packaged. It arrived quicker than promised by Amazon (by 24 hours). When I turned it on, the out of the box experience was /much/ better than the previous watch. The old one was slow from the get-go (especially since it had a bunch of updates to do). The new one merrily installed the updates in the background, while still being snappier than the old one while idle. They have improved the duel tech screen, which now shows seconds as well as the time/date, and they have added a backlight for the LCD mode (which activates automatically on wrist up gesture). The whole UI is much snappier than before – the new watch is apparently the first one with the new Qualcomm 4100 SOC, which is made using a more efficient fabrication process (smaller transistors, which means faster and less power hungry), and compared to my previous watch, they have doubled the ram (1Gb vs. 512Mb), and it shows.Navigating through the OS is no longer a case of tap… wait… tap… wait… its now a smooth experience, and I can bring up the app list more or less instantly. I can see myself using more apps on the new watch, as it is now a pleasant experience. The physical design is also nicer – its notably less thick than the old one, and more comfortable to wear. They have also increased the water ingress protection, so I no longer have to take the watch off when bathing my children, which is nice. I haven’t been able to test the swimming pool safe side of it due to the pandemic closing all pools!Im not sure, but the AMOLED screen looks sharper than the previous watch – i think they have increased the pixel density. To go alongside the increased power efficiency and reduced size, they have somehow squeezed a larger battery in there as well, so we should be seeing a double benefit for battery life. I have only had the watch a while, but so far it seems much better than the old one in that respect.Loading up ‘ok google’ is now a LOT quicker, so I can see myself using that a lot more, instead of pulling out my smartphone to avoid the lag from the old watch. The charging pad is nicer as well now – its a smaller clip-on affair instead of the round puck, that holds itself to the watch using a strong magnet.Complaints? the only problem I have encountered so far, is that like Samsung, Mobvoi have a bunch of apps they ship that duplicate the functionality to the google ones, such as health apps etc. This is easily mitigated by simply not using them. So, in conclusion, this watch fixes all the issues i had with my very-much-loved previous watch, while retaining all the good bits. I am very pleased with the upgrade. This is hopefully the dawn of a new era, when a sensible alternative to the Apple Watch exists for us Android folk.

2 days plus battery life with Wear OS. Battery life does not compare to my Huawei Watch 2 but this runs on proprietary OS which does not compare to Wear OS. Both priced around £120+. I eould recommend Ticwatch 3 over the Huawei Watch 2.

This is considerably better than every other Wear OS watch I’ve tried. The main thing this watch gets right is battery life. In my experience this has been the greatest issue with Wear OS in the past. The new Snapdragon 4100 chipset combined with 1GB RAM finally creates a Wear OS experience that is fast and responsive, with multi-day battery life a real possibility. I prefer to use smart watches in a very simplistic way, with minimal notifications and health monitoring features enabled 14/7. Set up in this way, with an always-on watch face displaying my blood sugar from a Dexcom sensor, I am able to get 3+ days of battery life. With health tracking features and more notifications enabled this goes down to closer to two days, but it is still very good and a serious improvement on older watches. The watch is large, and the design could be more minimal (read: Apple) in my opinion, but it does not look bad by any means and it is not too thick, which is great. The LCD overlay screen is really cool, I love the G-Shock feel! It would be great to be able to have some control over the complications displayed on the overlay screen. For example I would much rather have my blood glucose value from a third party app in place of steps or heart rate. The physical buttons are nice, but the top one on my unit doesn’t have as good of a “click” feel as the bottom one, so there might be a slight quality control issue there. It just feels a bit “spongey” or stiff, whereas the bottom one has a very satisfying click feel.Performance is great. It’s fast and responsive. Opening the app drawer feels a tad slow, but it really isn’t bad at all. The Mobvoi health apps are good. Automatic exercise detection seems to work quite reliably. Heart rate monitor seems fast and accurate, but I have no medical equipment to compare it to. The high decibel warning app is an interesting idea, but not sure how useful it is in day to day life. All the Mobvoi apps seem to be of decent quality, but users of existing health platforms like Google Fit might not want to move to a whole new suite of fitness apps. I’d like to see Mobvoi’s hardware integrated really tightly with Google’s Health apps, but what Mobvoi has done with their own apps is a solid option until Google’s Wear OS developers wake up from their multi-year hibernation. That said, the Google Fit apps are here and they work pretty well with most of the Ticwatch’s sensors. The energy saving mode is really interesting. It seems to shut down Wear OS entirely and run a TicWatch propriety minimal OS while in this mode, kind of a like a dual boot setup. In energy saving mode the watch battery lasts a ludicrously long time, and again you get that cool G-Shock look!In conclusion: This is undoubtedly one of the best Wear OS watches. Wear OS is still lagging behind Apple and Samsung’s platforms, but this watch makes it a decent experience. It nails what are, in my opinion, the two most important aspects of what makes a smart watch reliable and useable: speed and battery life!

My watch is paired with my Oneplus 8 proI decided to upgrade from my trusty original ticwatch pro to the new 2020 version as my old one was heavily put through its paces and I think it was time for a change.I stuck with mobvoi for a few reasons one being the dual layer screen which is amazing as it is always on and takes barely and battery life and still manages to track all my health data like its 24 hour heart rate monitor and a pedometer. Another reason I have stuck with Mobvoi is due to their excellent customer service as I have had 2 previous watches from them the Ticwatch pro 2018 and the ticwatch s and if I had any problems with either I was very quickly helpedOnce I had opened the box I could instantly tell how much faster this new watch was probably due to its newer Qualcomm 4100 SOC and its doubled RAM. I think this also contributed to a longer battery life than the original which was already great for battery life. With both the original and the new one if the watch dies the LCD mode continues working for many days (up to 45 days!!!)With the new speed the watch is much much more enjoyable to use as you no longer have to pause between every time you open apps or do anything as everything is opening instantly due to this I will probably use more apps than I ever did with my last watch. The GPS in the new watch is also much more accurate compared to the old watch and the new altimeter makes this watch perfect for camping and hiking. With the LTE built in it also means you can leave your phone behind and still be connected wherever you are. The new physical design is much for comfortable than the old one as it is noticeably thinner with a nice changeable strap so you can wear this for any occasion. The increased water protection means you can go swimming with your watch now and it will not break however I did notice underwater there were a few ghost touches on the screen however when it goes into the LCD screen it is completely fine. With the new chip comes better power efficiency and now with a larger battery only means one thing incredible battery life which is much better than the last one. This is very good as you don’t need to take the watch off much especially if you use the sleep tracking which is built in.I only have a few minor complains with this watch is now the charger uses a magnetic clip on which holds itself to the watch however I preferred the old puck but that’s just personal preference. Another problem is the apps with the same health functions however its fine as they all sync together its just that it looks a bit cluttered with so many apps.In conclusion this new ticwatch pro 2020 is a very nice upgrade from any smartwatch as is a very well rounded watch and one I can see myself wearing for a long time.
