Radio Control System that Ensures Effective Transmission of Data
There are two signal types in Europe.
The MSF signal is used within the UK and Ireland and the transmitters are located in Cumbria (UK).
For the rest of Europe, the DCF-77 is used where the transmitters are located in Mainflingen, about 25km south-east of Frankfurt (Germany).
The MSF radio signal is a dedicated standard-frequency and time broadcast that provides an accurate and reliable source of UK civil time.
DCF77 is a German longwave time signal and standard frequency radio station and the station signal carries an amplitude-modulated, pulse-width coded 1 bit/s data signal.
The Youshiko Wall Clock works on the MSF and ensures automatic time change for spring and autumn along with automatic time checks. . The radio-controlled clock picks up the signal from Cumbria – UK transmitter and gives you accurate time. You never have to do anything as the clock self sets automatically.
Self-Setting Wall Clock
A highlighting feature of this wall clock from Youshiko is that it always shows the correct time as it is constantly receiving the MSF UK atomic clock radio timing signal. The timing is accurate to 1 second in 10 million years and the clock has automatic set up for time and calendar (where applicable). The National Physical Laboratory (NPL) is the UK’s home of measurement and the nation’s timekeeping. NPL is responsible for operating the national time system and making accurate time available across the UK.
This clock keeps accurate time by picking up the NPL’s radio signal, called MSF, which is transmitted on 60KHz from Cumbria. This transmission carries a date and time code that the radio-controlled products use to set themselves to the correct time. The signal is controlled by atomic clocks at the radio station and is adjusted to keep in step with the national time maintained at the NPL laboratory in London.

My wife is in a Care Home. She now has a little difficulty in reading an analoge clock. This radio controlled clock is perfect for her. The figures are clear. Not only does it tell the time, it provides the day of the week, the date and the temperature of the room in which the clock is situated.Better still, only minutes after the two size AA batteries were inserted did the radio control kick in and automatically set the time and date. The clock has a host of features.It can be manually set. The continuous calendar is designed to run until 2099. Temperature can be displayed in Centigrade or Fahrenheit. Batteries are not included. The clock appears to be well made and was delivered well packed and on time. My wife loves it and I am well pleased. B

Bought this clock for our summerhouse and it is extremely easy to set up.Once the batteries are in, one press of a button and a few minutes of waiting, your clock will be set as well as all the other data on the screen like date and temperature and a whole load of other info you’ll probably never use.The info on the screen is clear and big.I’m sure there are a whole host of options such as alarms and humidity but, as I just needed a digital clock, this was a nice cheap option,Wall mountable or has a fold out stand.Delivered quickly and packaged well.

I love how easy to set up it is. I love the accuracy and it helped me with timing in my class. My pupils loved it vI did not like that the time did not automatically go back. I need to go back over the instructions Manual I love the display and it’s a good size clock . Glad I bought it

Sharp and clear display. Works as an MSF clock should.Although it is quoted as ‘UK Version’ the Month/Date presentation is NOT the UK standard.13 May shows as 5-13. Some users will be confused by this.Many other small electrical/electronic implements are supplied with batteries but you have to provide them in this case.The small hinged arms for desk support don’t latch open positively, just relying on friction to maintain their positions.Edit 20 May 2017:Clock was received a week ago, 13 May, and all elements of the display were correct – ‘day’ showed ‘SAT’.I’m not aware of having disturbed anything, but today, 20 May 2017 shows as ‘SUN’.I have restarted the clock by removing the batteries, waiting 15 seconds and replacing them.It didn’t lock on to the signal in seven minutes, so pressed ‘Wave’…After a further three minutes it locked on and the day now shows correctly as ‘SAT’. A mystery!One hour later- still showing ‘SAT’ correctly.

Having tried some slightly cheaper and smaller clocks from another on-line marketplace and endured complicated instructions and then the items did not work correctly, buyers of this Youshiko clock can be completely satisfied with this good size and great display clock!. The instructions say, just plug in the batteries and everything is automatically cared for without the buyer having to fiddle with the ‘mode’ button as after a short while this clock automatically sets the time, date, day etc! I’m well impressed.

Bought to use in a boat for strating race spot on time.Earlier version corroded and reset to European Time.This one gets UK transmitter (easily) and resets to UTC/BST automatically.Does not need a weekly check/reset.Style a bit plasticky if for home use, but survives being dropped.Haven’t tried dropping it in the water yet!

Accuracy for me is critical, it is a time I use for train signalling.Easy to read when I’m moving about in the signal box, time is checked every day and it is spot on.
